Our Home Environment

IMG_0380.jpeg

Sanctuary 16 provides homes that reflect care, innovation, and engaging experiences, allowing our children to acquire the tools needed to achieve their milestones and goals. We understand that a rocky start can affect a child's outcomes and opportunities, so we work to ensure every child has the fundamental components needed for a good start.

Our children’s homes provide valuable experiences for young people thanks to our staff’s expertise, therapeutic support and a genuine, caring approach.

Young people have their say on decorating their bedrooms, deciding house rules and what’s on the menu each week. Empowering them to make decisions on issues that directly affect their lives makes them feel more at home and positive about engaging with staff.

Our children’s care homes have no more than four spaces for young people aged 8 to 16. We take both planned and emergency referrals.

We take pride in the appearance of our homes, and ensure all of them are decorated to a standard that we would be happy for our own families to live in.

Children’s voices are heard and respected, and we always ensure they feel empowered to make decisions in the running of the home where appropriate.

We work hard to ensure that children are happy and comfortable in their home, and that it is treated as exactly that, a home, not a unit.

Our Care Approach

STABILISE

We provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment where young people can begin to feel secure and rebuild trust.

Strengthen

Through therapeutic support, education and positive relationships, we empower young people to develop the skills and confidence needed to make informed life choices.

Transition

We prepare young people for independence, helping them transform life experiences into strengths and leadership qualities for the future.

Accomodation

Our residential children’s homes have been designed to be homely, comfortable and welcoming, enabling the young people in our care to feel safe and looked after. We offer everything you’d expect to find in a modern family home, balanced alongside relevant modifications, enabling us to provide the best care for individuals’ needs.

Our bedrooms are single-occupancy, and most have en-suite facilities, providing privacy and tranquillity for each young person we care for. Our residential homes also offer:

  • Spacious and comfortable living areas encourage relaxing leisure time

  • Communal dining rooms, allowing young people to eat and socialise together where appropriate

  • Some homes may employ full-time chefs/housekeepers (dependent on size) who provide nutritious meals and cater to suit dietary needs. Where this is not the case, all staff within the home will contribute toward this role, along with our children and young people.

  • Sensory rooms and other specialist equipment to support the needs of the people we care for

  • Sporting and other varied equipment to encourage hobbies and activities

Working With Local Authority

Sanctuary 16 works closely with local authorities, social workers and professionals to ensure every young person receives the care and support they need. We aim to build strong partnerships that support positive outcomes and stable placements.
