Every referral is considered carefully to ensure that Sanctuary 16 can meet the young person’s needs safely and effectively. We review the information provided by the placing authority, including the young person’s history, risks, care needs, education, health and previous placements.
We also consider compatibility with other young people living in the home, staffing capacity and the overall impact of the proposed placement. Where possible, young people are encouraged to visit the home before admission so they can become familiar with the environment and share their views about the placement.

Who We Support
Sanctuary 16 provides 24-hour therapeutically informed residential care for young people aged 8–16 with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
We support young people who may have experienced trauma, adversity, disrupted relationships, previous placement breakdowns or instability, and who require a safe, structured and nurturing environment in which to stabilise and progress.
Each referral is considered individually to ensure that the young person’s needs, risks and placement requirements can be safely met within the home.

Our Standards & Compliance
Sanctuary 16 operates in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards. Our practice is supported by clear safeguarding procedures, individualised care planning, robust risk assessment and regular quality monitoring.
We work in partnership with local authorities, social workers and other professionals to ensure that each young person receives safe, consistent and well-coordinated care.
