Our Entry Route is designed for people who have the right values, attitude and commitment to develop a career in residential childcare, even if they do not yet hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
You will become part of the Sanctuary 16 team, supporting children and young people within a safe, consistent and nurturing home while developing your knowledge, skills and experience.
About the Role
As a Residential Support Worker at Sanctuary 16, you will play an important role in creating a safe, stable and nurturing home for children and young people.
You will support young people with their day to day routines, education, activities and personal development, while helping them build positive relationships, confidence and independence.
The role includes maintaining professional boundaries, completing accurate records, contributing to care planning and risk management, and working closely with colleagues and other professionals to ensure each young person receives consistent and individualised support.
You will receive induction, training, supervision and ongoing support to help you develop within the role.
What will I be doing?
• Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.
• Support young people with their daily routines, education, activities and independence skills.
• Provide consistent, nurturing care and respond appropriately to individual needs and behaviours.
• Support young people to attend appointments, activities and community-based opportunities.
• Maintain accurate daily records, reports and other required documentation.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Work effectively as part of the staff team and communicate with families and other professionals where appropriate.
• Take part in training, supervision and team meetings.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and homely environment.
• Work in line with Sanctuary 16’s policies, procedures and approach to care.
What We're Looking For
You do not need to already hold a Level 3 qualification to apply for our Entry Route. However, applicants must have previous experience supporting or working with children or young people.
We are looking for people who can bring relevant experience, the right values and a genuine commitment to developing their career within residential childcare.
You will need to:
• Have previous experience supporting or working with children or young people in a relevant setting.
• Be caring, reliable, resilient and committed to supporting children and young people.
• Be willing to learn and develop your professional practice.
• Be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
• Be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
• Be able to work the required shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be able to provide a full employment history, including explanations for any gaps, and satisfactory references.
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and Sanctuary 16’s safer recruitment process.
Our Entry Route is designed for people with relevant experience who are ready to take the next step into residential childcare and work towards their Level 3 qualification.
Pay, Hours & Shifts
Hours: 20 hours per week
Employment: Permanent, Part Time
Starting pay: £13.25 per hour
Following successful probation: £13.50 per hour
Waking Night rate: £14.50 per hour
Our Entry Route team members work a combination of day shifts and waking nights, including weekends and bank holidays as required.
Day Shift: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Waking Night: 10:30pm – 8:30am
