Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker who is passionate about creating positive outcomes for children and young people?
We are looking for a qualified Residential Support Worker to join the Sanctuary 16 team. You will help provide a safe, stable and nurturing home while supporting each young person’s individual needs and development.
About the Role
As a Qualified Residential Support Worker at Sanctuary 16, you will help create a safe, stable and nurturing home for children and young people.
You will support young people with their daily routines, education, activities and personal development. You will also contribute to care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding, accurate record-keeping and professional communication.
You will work as part of a supportive team on a rolling rota covering day, late, waking-night, weekend and bank-holiday shifts.
What will I be doing?
Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.

Support daily routines, education, activities and independence skills.

Provide consistent, nurturing and trauma-informed care.

Follow individual care plans, placement plans and risk assessments.

Maintain accurate daily records, reports and required documentation.

Safeguard young people and respond appropriately to concerns.

Support positive behaviour using approved, child-centred approaches.

Work effectively with families and other professionals.

Take part in handovers, team meetings, supervision and training.

Support and guide less-experienced team members when required.
What We're Looking For
You must already hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, or an accepted equivalent qualification.
We are looking for someone with relevant experience, strong professional values and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
You will need to:
• Hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an accepted equivalent qualification.
• Have relevant experience supporting children or young people.
• Be caring, reliable, resilient and professionally accountable.
• Communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
• Be available to work a rolling rota, including days, late shifts, waking nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Be aged 23 or over.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Provide a complete employment history, explanations for any gaps and satisfactory references.
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and Sanctuary 16’s safer-recruitment process.
You will need to:
• Have previous experience supporting or working with children or young people in a relevant setting.
• Be caring, reliable, resilient and committed to supporting children and young people.
• Be willing to learn and develop your professional practice.
• Be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
• Be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
• Be able to work the required shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be able to provide a full employment history, including explanations for any gaps, and satisfactory references.
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and Sanctuary 16’s safer recruitment process.
Our Entry Route is designed for people with relevant experience who are ready to take the next step into residential childcare and work towards their Level 3 qualification.
Pay, Hours & Shifts
Hours: 40 hours per week
Employment: Permanent, Full Time
Pay: £15.00–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
You will work a rolling rota covering day shifts, late shifts and waking nights, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
Day shift: 8:00am–5:00pm
Late shift: 4:30pm–11:00pm
Waking night: 10:30pm–8:30am
