Are you looking for flexible work supporting children and young people within a safe, nurturing residential home?
As a Bank Residential Support Worker at Sanctuary 16, you will provide additional staffing cover when required. You may work day shifts, late shifts, waking nights, weekends and bank holidays, depending on your availability and the needs of the home.
About the Role
As a Bank Residential Support Worker, you will join our staffing team and provide cover during planned absences, annual leave, training, sickness or periods of increased need.
You will support children and young people with their daily routines, education, activities and personal development while helping to maintain a safe, stable and nurturing home.
Bank work is offered according to the needs of the service, and you can accept available shifts that suit your availability. Hours are not guaranteed.
What will I be doing?
• Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.
• Support daily routines, education, activities and independence skills.
• Provide consistent, nurturing and trauma-informed care.
• Follow individual care plans, placement plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate daily records and complete required documentation.
• Safeguard young people and report concerns appropriately.
• Support positive behaviour using approved, child-centred approaches.
• Work effectively with permanent staff, families and other professionals.
• Take part in shift handovers and follow Sanctuary 16’s policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
You do not need to already hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare. However, you must have relevant experience supporting or working with children or young people and be willing to develop your professional practice.
You will need to:
• Have relevant experience supporting or working with children or young people.
• Be caring, reliable, resilient and professionally accountable.
• Be able to respond flexibly to available shifts.
• Communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
• Be aged 23 or over.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Provide a complete employment history, explanations for any gaps and satisfactory references.
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and Sanctuary 16’s safer-recruitment process.
• Hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, be working towards it or be willing to enrol.
You will need to:
• Have previous experience supporting or working with children or young people in a relevant setting.
• Be caring, reliable, resilient and committed to supporting children and young people.
• Be willing to learn and develop your professional practice.
• Be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
• Be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
• Be able to work the required shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be able to provide a full employment history, including explanations for any gaps, and satisfactory references.
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and Sanctuary 16’s safer recruitment process.
Our Entry Route is designed for people with relevant experience who are ready to take the next step into residential childcare and work towards their Level 3 qualification.
Pay, Hours & Shifts
Contract: Zero-Hour Bank Contract
Hours: Flexible, according to the needs of the service
Day and late shift rate: £13.25 per hour
Waking night rate: £14.50 per hour
Available shifts may include:
• Day shifts: 8:00am–5:00pm
• Late shifts: 4:30pm–11:00pm
• Waking nights: 10:30pm–8:30am
• Weekends and bank holidays
Bank shifts are offered according to service needs, and hours are not guaranteed.
